Salters Hall Repair

Salters Hall

Salters Hall is the home of the Worshipful Company of Salters & is 9th in precedence within the Livery Companies of the City of London. The original building was bombed during a German air raid in 1941 and the Company moved to its current location in 1976, following the completion of a new building to the designs of the renowned architect, Sir Basil Spence. This unusual structure, built in the Brutalist style, waSalters Halls listed in 2010 & carries Grade II status. We were employed to complete both cosmetic and structural repairs to various parts of the building, which is currently undergoing its 1st major refurbishment since construction.Using high strength mortars we were able to maintain the structural integrity, where required. The design of the exterior of the building includes extensive knapped rib and texturing, which have been replicated, by hand, using lightweight mortars. We will return later in the year to apply a pigmented anti-carbonation coating to both repaired and unrepaired areas of concrete. The hall is currently closed and is due to re-open in 2016.Note: We have repaired and coated another Sir Basil Spence commission.
