Clement Court consists of 2 residential blocks with a bored pile wall to the SW boundary. The Company has recently been awarded the contract to consolidate the wall by installing additional connections between the piles and capping beam followed by the application of spray concrete to the face of the piles on mesh using Weber.Cem Conspray for a thickness up to 200mm.
On completion of the spraying the face of the new wall is to be clad in timber fence panels.
Having completed in July the concrete condition survey to the school buildings at the St Lawrence Primary & Christchurch Infant School in Wembley, the Company has since been awarded 3 more schools projects for repeat business clients to be carried out in August & September.
Traditional concrete repairs using the Sika Monotop range, complimented with MCI corrosion control & elastomeric coatings in some instances, are to be carried out at Robin Hood School in Kingston Vale, Fairholme Primary School in the London Borough of Hounslow and Michaela School in Wembley.
Chichester Festival Theatre is a grade II* listed building constructed in 1962 on a limited budget for summer festivals. The theatre now operates all year round with over 4 times the number of annual visitors that it was designed for and therefore needed a refurbishment to accommodate the changes, hence the RENEW project .
The 18 month project, carried out by Main Contractor Geoffrey Osborne Ltd, involved demolition and new build as well as complete internal refit. Structural Renovations involvement was the repair to the large areas of exposed concrete to the facades required due to spalling concrete and exposed reinforcement due to carbonation.
The concrete elements of the facades are constructed with an exposed golden and cream aggregate in in some areas the whole face of the beams were removed and repaired.
The challenge was to produce a repair that both satisfied the requirements of both the structural engineer and the architect. After a number of trials, this was achieved by use of Remmers Betofix repair mortars and finished with colour matched Remmers Restoration Mortar modified with the addition of a limited amount of suitable aggregate.
Finally the repaired areas and any remaining concrete were lightly grit blasted to enhance the finished texture and then treated with an migrating corrosion inhibitor and finally a water repellent.
This is another example of where Structural Renovations Ltd are able to repair structures where both the colour, texture are matched and integrity of the concrete is maintained.
Having completed 2 previous phases in 2012 & 2013 the Company is now carrying out the final phase of the external repair and protection to the façade of the 10 storey office block in Basingstoke.
The works involve cleaning, repair and application of a clear coating to the concrete ring beams, brickwork repointing and sealant replacement all from temporary access cradles.
Additional works are being carried out to the roof parapet involving replacement sealant to the copings and coatings to brickwork and concrete together with minor concrete repairs to the car park parapet.
The Company has been awarded the concrete repair and coating contract to the 1970s constructed Phoenix Art Gallery in Brighton.
The Gallery is the largest artist-led organisation in the southeast with over 100 individual artists’ studios.
The works form the initial phase of the long awaited redevelopment scheme of the building and involve both structural and cosmetic concrete repairs followed by anticarbonation coatings to the facades, replacement of sealant and refurbishment of the metal framed windows.
The 20 week project is due for completion in August.
Following the success of the London Olympic Games in 2012, the Olympic Stadium is being refurbished for future use.
As part of the strip out, low level seating has been removed and the concrete supports demolished around the perimeter of the stadium. In addition a number of walls have partially demolished.
The resultant damage concrete and exposed reinforcement have been repaired using a hand placed polymer modified repair mortar.
