Extensive Refurbishments At Collingham Gardens

Collingham Gardens were designed by firm Ernest George and Peto, and were built between 1880 and 1888. Representing the extreme point of late-Victorian architectural individualism, the original plot of 18 properties, are one of the boldest and (now!) best preserved examples of Queen Anne style, picturesque houses.

Forming part of a sought-after garden square in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London, Structural Renovations were contacted to survey, provide advice and remedial works on one of the properties that had been converted to serviced apartments a number of years ago.

Collingham Gardens - Preserving History

The front and rear elevations of the building had not been maintained for at least 20 years. As such, extensive repairs and redecoration were required; which included brickwork/pointing works, waterproofing to balcony areas, timber repair/replacement, and redecoration to all previously painted timber and stonework.

Built From A Different Perspective

The front elevation was accessed from traditional scaffolding, however due to a lack of access to the rear elevation - this area was completed by means of abseil!

Using specialist repairs, and coatings products from Fosroc, and brickwork/pointing repair materials from Sika Parex, the entire building has now been repaired and protected from the elements - ensuring it continues to be admired for many years to come.

Delivering On Time With Minimal Impact To Income

Despite poor weather conditions, Structural Renovations completed the works to the anticipated programme. This ensured that the management company would suffer minimal impact to the use of their building.
