Heritage & Conservation

Committed to future-proofing and conserving the UK’s historic and listed buildings, the Structural Renovations team are proud to have worked on several iconic structures, including the Barbican Estate, the Hoover Building, the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, Somerset House, and the Brooklands Racetrack.

We take pride in building strong working relationships with all of our clients, consulting engineers, building surveyors and architects, to create not only a good rapport but also make sure disruptions are kept to an absolute minimum. Any daily routines of community spaces, such as churches, or residential abodes are carefully respected and monitored by the team to ensure that any events or activities are not negatively impacted.

Working on any Heritage or Conservation project is a privilege, and the Structural Renovations team is devoted to preserving and maintaining our country’s historic buildings, monuments, and structures.

Safety is of the utmost importance to Structural Renovations, and as such we are fully CHAS (The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme), and Construction Line registered. Experts In The Conservation Of Historic Buildings.

With over 30 years’ experience in building preservation, the team's work can be seen in churches, cathedrals, stately homes, monuments and built heritage across London and the South-East.

Dedicated to delivering the highest quality of work in the following areas.

Masonry & Conservation of Masonry

We can undertake all aspects of masonry including specialist stone carving, tracery works, poultice cleaning, to building new colour matched brickwork and restoration. Working alongside conservation experts, we will prepare specialist mortar mixes for any repointing works.

Repair & Restoration

Working alongside our clients, architects and English Heritage, we are skilled in the sympathetic repair and restoration of historic structures. Our Heritage trained operatives are experienced in a wide range of trades, providing a fully comprehensive conservation programme.

Carpentry & Joinery

Experienced in traditional techniques, alongside modern engineering to future-proof and support buildings' original structures and materials. Whether it’s a major or minor structural intervention, our team can provide carpentry and joinery repair services for roofs, floor levels, or flooring.

Lead & Metal Roofing

Irrespective of whether a roof uses sand cast or milled lead, on medieval hollow or timber rolls, our team is experienced in carrying out restoration works on a wide range of historic structures, including lead mouldings. We can also undertake roof repairs on copper, stainless steel, and zinc sheet roofing.

Roof-Slating & Tile

As part of a conservation programme, if any repair work is identified below or around the roof covering, we can take remedial action to re-roof all types of slate, or tiled roofs.

Lime Plastering

Crucial in the restoration of Historic buildings as traditional render assists with breathability, moisture control and movement in the structure. Whether it’s a hydraulic, or non-hydraulic lime mortar with the addition of horsehair or synthetic hair - our team will work alongside our clients, and architects on pigment selection to colour match and provide sympathetic repairs for plasterwork on walls and ceilings, and blending new and existing surfaces.

Painting & Decorating

From the top, down - our conservation projects are completed from start to finish, and can include exterior and interior surfaces. We work alongside craftsmen, who are Heritage specialists and can complete a variety of highly skilled trades, including the application of lime washes and distemper, gold leaf and high-quality pigment matching, and handmade wallpapers.

The Structural Renovations team are happy to bring all of their skills and work as your Principal Contractor, or as your specialist subcontractor. Our aim is to offer clients a flexible approach that is appropriate to the requirements of the project.
