With the festive period behind us and New Year before us, we take this opportunity in highlighting what is happening now and what we hope to achieve as we move forward through 2024.

Structural Renovations finished 2023 on a positive note, with a healthy order book and a significant amount of upcoming projects to be carried out internally, keeping the chances of inclement weather delaying us to a minimum.

Upon our return from the Christmas shutdown, we mobilised at the Port of Dover on one of two projects we will be completing there over the next few months. The works will include structural repairs to a reinforced concrete vehicle inspection facility, as well as repairs and the application of specialist coatings to the terminal control building within the Port.

We have also commenced works within the underground car park of a residential development in Worcester Park, Surrey, where we are repairing the concrete deck, which has severe cracking and displacement. We are using resin injection techniques together with the installation of stainless-steel bars set in epoxy resin.

We’re also undertaking work to a number of basement vaults in the Oxford Street area of London’s West End, where we are applying waterproof membranes and renders, so that these formerly unused spaces can be fitted out for storage, seating, toilets, etc.

Working with the NHS

We continue to work at various NHS sites, carrying out a range of activities, including – flat roof membrane application, waterproofing, masonry stabilisation and concrete repair. We are often required to respond rapidly to enquiries on sites such as these, to prevent much needed services from being suspended and to ensure smooth running of the hospitals.

Company Expansion

Since expanding the business to three separate divisions last year we have progressively found the need to increase our labour force at site level, which we have implemented when the occasion demands. We have also taken the decision to recruit a new member of office staff, to assist with estimating amongst other tasks. Nathan Sparkes has now started with us and comes from outside the industry but is interested in pursuing a career in this specialist side of construction.

Training

This year we are planning to enhance and update the training requirements of all on site and office staff, to ensure that the Company continues to maintain a high standard of performance and works within safe boundaries.

We are extremely hopeful that 2024 will prove a positive year for Structural Renovations and one that will ensure a good base for moving forward.
